A rural Cheshire welcome, made for good food and easy-going gatherings

Just south of Knutsford, this country pub sits in the village of Over Peover, with the calm feel of a rural lane and the warmth of a well-established local gathering place. Its indoor seating and outdoor areas make room for different kinds of visits, from an early breakfast to an unhurried meal or evening drink. Six rooms add to the pub’s country-house character.

Food is central to the experience, with freshly prepared dishes and locally sourced ingredients where possible. Breakfast, daily, Sunday and children’s menus give the kitchen plenty of range, while independent CAMRA reporting highlights high-class food and daily specials. There is cask ale too, making the pub a natural choice for a meal, a pint or both.

Outside, the garden and front and rear terraces create inviting space in the open air, including an outdoor bar in the rear garden. When the weather turns cooler, three real fires and open log fires bring an extra layer of comfort. The pub is also described as a fixture of village life, with community links including Locals’ Night, village cricket, the Gooseberry Show and local suppliers.
